Hey everyone -
I am a newbie to restoration. I just bought a 65 to restore. It is sitting on jack stands in my garage and I can't flip it on its side to sand and paint it.
My question is what do I use to clean it with and then what do I undercoat or paint it with once it is clean? The car is about 15" off the ground.

Thanks!

First off you going to want to make sure all the repairs are done on the underside that need to be done. For example replacing floor pans frame rails etc. then you can do a lot of the clean up like i did using a wire brush or a brass wire wheel on an angle grinder to remove the stubborn stuff. Others will chime in on what paints you should use. Personally im not doing a fancy restoration just doing a driver, so im using a rattle can primer and paint. As for undercoating im using the 3m undercoating in a can and it can be picked up at autozone or advance. its some nice stuff that dries quick and is rubberized to keep sound down and protect against rocks and debris.

others will chime in on what to use, but this is what i have found that works for me. good luck and and always be safe.
