So i spent the first 20 years of my life restoring a 65 convertible with my dad, that is now completely done, (less some heating issues that you may have seen me post on be4). So last summer i bought to jet skis and fixed those and enjoyed them this summer. So this year i spent the summer skowering the internet for a car to buy for myself. My mom works with a guy who i met at my house one july day while i was detailing the 65 and we chatted and he told me he had a 72 mach 1 that he hasnt been able to work on anymore. Jokingly i told him hey if you ever want to sell it hit me up haha.
I found a formula 400 bird in september that was awesome. I made plans to go buy it on a saturday. That friday night while at dinner with my parents. My mom gets a text message from her work friend, saying your son had mentioned his interest in my car and i am going to sell it to buy a hog. Have him contact me if he is interested. So i did contact him and now have used all of my summer work earnings to buy this car, and am on a payment plan with him to finish paying him the rest.
As ive been working on it over the past month ive already ran into countless typical mustang issues, like no indicators, brakes to the floor from a broken bleeder bolt, no flywheel cover...
But thats the beauty of restoring a classic vehicle, you never know what your going to run into. I write this post not so much to ask for help, but to thank you all for creating a place to come to for support and share stories and thoughts, as i know i will be asking for many many times in the coming future.
Thanks for creating such a great place, and thanks in advance for the help. Maybe this post will remind you of your first car you ever undertook, or remind you of that feeling of pure enjoyment you get from working on your car. But either way I now know a mustang will always hold a special place in my heart
