Hi All,

I have been lucky enough at 22 years old to own 2 different 67's   . Wanted to give a lil background before i went into all my questions. My dad bought a 51 Ford back when i was 15, and he's always been a car nut. I mean ALWAYS, so I picked up my love for cars from him.

The first one is a Cali body (well call this Thing 1), and thats it, the body. No doors, no trunk, no hood, no motor. Just a solid body that I want to use to build off of. Front 2 wheels are 4 bolts, back 2 are 5. However, the car is in incredible shape, and just 1 little rust spot on the drivers side floor. The roof is dented in a few places, and some dings in the 1/4s. but for the most part, its not a bad thing to start with . I think it even has a 9 inch rear end (keyword THINK)

The other is one my rents found for me pretty close to home (call this one Thing 2). It was built in NJ, but we found it near Pittsburgh (Im bout 45 mins north), with the good ole 6 cylinder and auto trany. Now this car is a real piece of work. U can see the road through both sides of the floorboards, trunk and rear end is rusted, and over all, the bodys not in that great of shape. However, all the glass is still perfect, and the interior is amazing. I have that deluxe center console, only had to replace the bottom of the drivers seat, and the rest of the inside looks new. But it is driveable, or was until I started to tear it apart. I put some miles on it already this past summer.

Now, I have always wanted a Mustang literally since I was 7 years old. So now that my dream came true in such a short time, I wanna make sure I do everything right the first time.

So I am going to combine the 2 cars together to make the car I've always wanted, and always made my head turn, and still does. I already have a 302 and C-4 trany in the back of the garage, and a vinyl top. Im goin Black on Black on Black.

Now to the questions:
1. I already have the Cali body torn apart to the bone. Now ive been told im to sandblast the whole car, top and bottom, and spray it with some primer to keep it from rusting. But then I was told not to worry about that, and to just wet sand where i can get to, and patch up any holes I can find. So which would be the better idea? I dont have a rotisserie to turn the car 360 degrees, or an air compressor that could pump that out?

2. I just started to tear apart the Thing 2. First took off the GT hood, undid the turn signals and all that jazz. Then moved onto the grille. Then the next night, I took off the trunk lid, and cleared out the entire trunk. How I'm to the point where as i crawl under the car, im instantly avalanched by rust. Im a smaller guy, but I still dont have much clearance under that thing. Would it be a good idea to try and jack it up to get under there, even tho ill be takin off rusty bolts and shakin the whole car. i dunno how safe that'd be.

3. Now ive been tearin it apart from the outside, thinking this would be the best and easiest way. My dad said to keep everything hooked up so I can still drive it in and out of the garage, but I didnt know what to do next. Doors or finish the front completly?

And lastly,

4. I have bought litterally every single part i needed to put beta together. a full floor board, fenders, door skins, hood trunk, etc. Thank god for Laural Mountain Mustang. Then, I found Thing 1, so I figured there was no need for all those parts, but yet they are still in my room. Now once I finally have Thing 2 torn apart, I wanna start to rebuild Thing 1. Now do I wanna start from front to rear, or visa versa? I knwo im gonna have to putty and sand and all that jazz, but I didnt know since Thing 1 doesnt have ne front fenders, if that should be my last step (puttin all the parts on).

I know its alot to read, but im at work and not doing anything, so i figured id use my time wisely and see if neone had any input. Sorry, Im a rookie, and I will take any help I can get.

Thanks!
Farah
