I recently bought a mustang off of ebay. The seller had it listed as a 1968, and even the title I recieved from him says 1968 on it. However, I just had a friend put the car on a lift to go over it with me. His first question was the year. I stated 1968. He says that it is a 1967. He showed me some pictures of 68 and 67 mustangs, and mine matches more with a 1967. Is there a sure way to confirm the year of my car?

Check the vin # and data plate codes.

look at the lower control arm strut rods , if they are straight its a 67 if they are at angle where they bolt to the lower a-arm its a 68 also the body panels have numbers stamped on them and these contain a date code , if the vin on the inner fender well begins with a 7 its a 67 unless the vin was pounded flat and restamped with a different vin. i saw this get done to a 65 mustang and a 68 about 30 something years ago to replace 2 shelby mustang bodys the 68 shelby gt500 was totaled beyond repair and the 65 shelby body was rusted to pieces.
