hey all!   i'm doing a toploader/ t5 swap and i'm concerned about accurate mph. a search turns up that i need an automatic speedo cable, but i'm stuck on speedo gearing. i've seen that the 92-93 t5 should have an 8 tooth gear thats green, yellow, or neutral colored. peeking thru the hole i only count 7 teeth and it's neutral colored. could a 7 tooth been put on the shaft? could the tag been changed and it's not 92-93? is there such a thing as neutral colored 7 tooth? could be all of the above?  anyway.... i just want to make sure an auto cable will be push in, o-ring type for t5 housing. the rest, i can experiment with based on the 7 tooth gear. i've found a calculator for the driven gear tooth count.  any ideas, folks?
edit..i'm looking at this closer now and it seems the t5 driven gear fits on the toploader cable. the depth and width seem like it'll fit. the cable length should be long enough since it went to passenger side before. it seems i can use this speedo cable and t5 driven gear? wth?

When I did this swap, all I had to do was replace the driven gear with late models account of the reverse rotation and reroute the cable to the driver's side. I need to go back into the T5 tailshaft and change to a drive gear with less teeth to slow the speedo down 10 mph. I've gone as for as I can with the driven gear 23 teeth.

ok thanks, i only found a couple references that mentioned switching to auto cable, maybe they think it easier? i think that a previous owner switched to seven for the same reason as you may need . saw some mention of 23 tc gears getting ate up.
