I need Help. Has anyone tried to repair or restore their door panel. The cardboard backing where the clips attach to the door panel is falling apart so the clips do not hold, has anyone tried to repair this? if so how? I am tired of havin part of the door panel come loose all the time.
Another question, if the best option is to replace the door panel, which is the best option to purchase? Standard, carbon fiber or the Custom ABS door panels?

Depends on what you want Ubie. If you want to stay stock then get the stock door panels from NPD or another supplier. They arent particularly durable so you have to be careful when you put them back on. Use new clips and you will find they go on easier and dont just blindly push them in , they have to be positioned properly and it takes some time to get them right, then they will go on the next time fairly easily. I have never had much luck trying to repair old door panels because once they loose their stiffness they dont sit on the door properly. You can tape and reinforce with glue but its only a short term patch.

I completely agree and have experienced the same as with mechanical guy 48's comments.jlg

Try using a 1/8 inch thick fiber board from your local hardware. I have used this type of board for the package tray (covered however) and door panels and they seam to work well for me. You have to take the panel skin off the old pressed card panel material and that takes some time. It is much easier time and hassle wise to put on new panels, but it can be done.

Thanks, It's only 1 door panel which is coming loose so I wanted to here suggestions on how to fix instead of buying a new pair. But probably the best option is to buy a new pair. I have tried re-gluing it and reinforcing the backing but didnt work. Thanks

Attaching Door Panels . . .
Another question regarding the door panels & Thanks for the suggestions.
My question is, Has anyone tried to attach the door panels to the door with something other than the metal clips? I know most of the problems are from the clips tearing off the cardboard backing, so I was thinking of maybe attaching some velcro tape on the door panel and door to attach ( saw it done on a hot rod website). Has anyone done something similar? I want to avoid the clips that I know will damage in some time.
Thanks
Ubie
