I have a 289 equipped 67 Mustang coupe with an 8 inch rear. Can anyone tell me what I need to be looking for in the way of a donor car for a 9 inch rear? I want something thats a direct bolt in swap.

Start by looking for a big block or high performance '67-'70 Mustang. Although it may be hard to find one that hasn't abused and will prbably need rebuilding.

Not worried about the condition as it will get rebuilt before it goes in. Are there any other cars that have the same dimensions, like a Cougar or Fairlane?

A Cougar should, not sure about the Fairlane. I think it may be wider.

I was told that comet, cougar, ranchero, fairlane, torino were all the same at 59.25 inches. I havn't measured the mustang yet thought I would find out what will work and take measurements before making a purchase.
