I am in the process of restoring the interior of my 67 mustang coupe. Should I use a bonding primer before I repaint any metal surfaces. Any help/experience in this area would be helpful. Ed

Ok Mr. Stangnut, you will only need a primer if you have bare metal or you need to fill some imperfections. As for adhesion, Mustang interiors where painted in lacquer which only requires cleaning and sanding to get proper paint adhesion. However, a light coat of primer, then sand smooth will always give a nice surface to paint over. Just be careful on areas that have a grain pattern, as the primer will fill in the grain. Good luck with your project.
