Some advice please. I plan to add a 68 oil pressure gauge in the empty clock cavity of a 67 tach cluster that comes with the light for oil pressure in the tach. My intent is to replace the sending unit and take the wires from the current light and connect them to the 68 pressure gauge. I am under the impression this should do it. Any advice or possible issues with this plan?

Nope...dont do that. Light sources are twelve volts while Ford gauges from that year work off a CVR constant voltage regulator that supplies 5.5 volts or so to the gauges and then the sending units are variable resistance to ground. Your gauge wont work and you will probably mess up the light circuit by introducing a variable ground into the circuit. So offhand I will say you will screw up everything. See if you can find a feed from the CVR to feed the gauge.

Like ususal, never as easy as hoped for. So when you refer to the CVR are you refering to the regulator mounted on the cluster or another location? I guess my plans for the weekend project will require a little more planning.

I don't have a GT wiring diagram but the std car has a oil pressure gauge already utilizing the 5 V CVR wiring. Does your car not come with a factory oil press gauge?

Not with the optional tach. The tach housing incorporates lights for the alternator and oil pressure. The std cluster has seperate alternator and oil pressure gauges, that is why I thought I could just use the same leads as they are used for the gauge in the std cluster. I definitly do not need to do any damage, so I need to do some more research. I will probably test the circuit voltage on each of the current gauges as well as the current alt/oil lights.
