Convertible top frame disassembly

I have a 68 that I would like to disassemble the top, bead blast the parts and paint it. I thought I would at least be able to break it down into sections, but there are pins that are not easily removeable. I guess they are either pressed or peened. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good way to clean up a frame and paint it?
