Cowling Leak

I have a 66 coup that suffers from the common problem of interior water leak, through cowling. The fact that the car has been converted to right hand drive (Australian) has perhaps made this worse.
I know that I can go to a great deal of trouble to drill out the cowling spot welds, etc,etc but am looking for a simpler solution ... any suggestions (perhaps perspex covers over vents ?)

Another Mustang owner just had a bunch of responses to a similar problem. Scroll back to last week and check it out. Might answer your questions.
Good luck and good day.
