Before he past away, my dad gave me his '68 Mustang. He was a real car freak and this car is totally original. He told me one day that the car was manufactred during the strike and sat on the assembly line. Does anyone know about this strike and if it would explain why some things don't add up? The car has the original motor which is 302, but the fenders are marked 289. The car has never been in an accident or any parts replaced. I'm not a car enthusiast, but my husband kinda is and we would like to get some info on this treasure.

Welcome to the forum! The best way for you to get info on your car is to talk with Marti. They are the only true source for data about mustangs and other fords from 67 up. www.martiauto.com

In 68, the V8 2 barrel was a 289. Do not be fooled by the 302 cast into various parts of the engine. Those parts are the same between a 289 and 302. If you have a factory 4 barrel small block V8 it would be a 302.

I recently read an in depth article that talked about the strike. It was very interesting, but I can not remember or find where I read it. If I can find it, I will post it here for you. It might have been in an article on this site. Prior to that I never knew it had happened. I can not remember too many details, but I believe it lasted from April through September.
