A personal warning from waynep7122
.... NEVER BUY a car no title... or with a removed vin plate.. if they hand you the title and the vin plate.. saying just put it back on the car.. RUN..
if you don't have a title to a car.. YOU DON'T own it legally...
i have a friend.. who bought a very expensive lincoln.. he can never register it or even get a title only for it.. as it is shown in the computer as being dismantled..
please book mark this site..

To perform a search a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is required. A maximum of five VINCheck searches can be conducted within a 24 hour period. A question to waynep7122. The car has the vin #s still on the fender aprons, on both sides. The title was lost, this is why it is being sold as a parts car. Does this make a difference? It's only going to be used for replacement parts. This car sat in hopes of being restored which it never was. I rescued it from the shredder. The owner lost the title in the years after. Will this matter? Thanks for your info. I will check into it anyway. Thanks Randy P.S. I checked the web site you gave me, which is a great web site , by the way, & it is a clear titled car. (No salvage title or Theft records.) The title is just lost. Thank You. Randy

It is possible for the owner of record to get the lost title replaced by the state Division of Motor Vehicles. I was able to do this in New Jersey. I believe it would have to be done personally by the person that registered the car last and it would help if they had an expired registration.

I believe, (correct me if I'm wrong) in Illinois, a person can apply for a lost title. It cost more, but I think it can be done!
