Alright so I just recently bought a 1965 mustang, the owner before me dropped a 302 out of a 93 mustang into it. Now I'm trying to replace the steering wheel(I cant stand the thin one haha) but I have no idea if the car came stock with a alternator or a generator.

Does anyone have like a picture of both I could compare it to? I'm about to order the grant HUB kit, but it ask's which one it had for the bolt patterns. I've searched all over with no luck to determine it. Even my Chiltons manual doesn't tell me.

would comparing my 69 or 71 help me figure out if it had an alternator? That's my next step. Being different years could be a huge difference though.

Thanks for any help, I really would appreciate it. I'll upload a picture of the steering column tomorrow when its daylight and maybe someone here could tell me.

do you have the steering wheel off??????

the alternator cars have double horn contacts..

they also use the small  AMP type pins in a translucent plastic connector body... that you have to use a tool to determinate the connector block to extract the turn signal harness...    determinate means to use a tool to depress the latches in the side of the terminal while pushing it in.. so you can extract it.. WITHOUT cutting wires.

the generator cars use a SINGLE contact.. and have male bullet connectors.......
similar to this

i tossed this together.. it should really help..

usually mechanics use tools like these to remove the pin type terminals from the translucent AMP connector bodies.
