Does anyone have a schematic or diagram of how the shifter rods are positioned between the shifter and the transmission levers for a Borg Warner transmission?  Also, are pictures available of the positions of the transmission levers on the side of the transmission prior to installing the rods?
The shifter will only go over to the left and up to get into reverse and it will not go fully into the reverse gear.  The transmission was professionally overhauled and the shifter and rods came with the transmission.

you are going to have to help us with some info...

which transmission..   probably a T10..   but what year was it installed in..    what brand shifter and model number..   if its a hurst shifter.. there is a part number on the side... kinda hard to see..

the rods will have partial part number.. the shifter levers on the side of the transmission will have part numbers..

there is a place at the top of the shifter levers where they hang out the bottom of the shifter where one can insert a rod to lock the three shifter arms in Neutral..  this allows you to then adjust the 3 rods to length with each one in exactly neutral..   spend your time here.. ...

The transmission is a T-10 with a steel case, not aluminum, and the tag is HEK-M.  I'm not sure what year the transmission was installed or where it came from but I was told that it came from a Mustang.  I bought it on e-bay and had it overhauled professionally.  The shifter came with it, attached to the transmission.  The shifter, from my investigations and comparisons, is a Ford shifter for that transmission, or it looks identical to one.  There is a large upsidedown 4 stamped on the outermost plate, opposing the plate that bolts to the tail of the transmission, located just above the lowest bolt hole.  Two of the levers that bolt to the transmission selector shafts have the letter H stamped on them.  Those are all the markings that I can find.  I've cleaned the shifter rods with steel wool and there are no numbers or marks on them that I have discovered.
I have fashioned a "key/rod" to insert into the shifter to align the levers and ensured the transmission is in neutral and cinched down the bolts.  The shifter seems to go into first through fourth but will not fully engage reverse.  I've moved it forward as far as it will go but it refused to fully engage into reverse.  I don't want to "hog out" the hole to see if it will work.
I appreciate any and all information that I can get from any source because the shop manual is not real illustrative.
Thanks,
