Hi Apache, what exactly are you calling weatherstrip channels? (I've never seen that description in the parts catalogs)

They're the stainless steel channels that the roof rail weatherstrips sits in. It might need to be from a Mustang specialist breakers/reclamation/salvage yard. I'm in the UK so don't know any in USA. Can you help at all please.

Sorry still drawing a blank. Here is the link one of the largest mustang restoration parts companies in the USA, National Parts Depot, and the link to their weather stripping section for you to look thru. If they don't have it no one will and it will then be a salvage yard find. I think you may be looking for drip rail moldings which are the only thing i can think of that's stainless attached to the roof rails. http://npdlink.com/store/catalog/Weatherstrip_Rubber_Parts-32-1.html

Thanks for your help. I've got the drip rail mouldings these I think are unique to the 66 Mustang. Have only seen them on those. I have got a picture of them attached to a car which I can email you if you PM your email address but understand if you don't want to. I will look at the website you've sent me.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, I'll have a go.

The piece I am looking for is the one that the rubber is sat in.
From the outside it looks like an L shape.
I'll try and put more pics on when I've loaded them on my computer.

I think he's talking about the stainless steel channels that the weatherstrip sits in.
Sounds like he's looking for the trim under the roof rail where the long rubber window gasket is mounted into. Fastback or coupe?

Yes I am, it's a fastback. Here are some pics with the rubber out. It's the piece that the screws are in. I need Left & Right side.

I think the Ford PN your looking for is 513A66. I see a listing in the NPD catalog under PN 51366-2K which is just the mounting HW unfortunately. good luck in you search

Thanks for info I've already been in contact with NPD but they don't stock it. Looking using the Ford part number on other sites that is the part I need but for a different year. I will see if it would do with a little modification, Thanks again.

the basic part number according to a diagram i have is a 51701
probably a 51700 on the right side...
pick up the printed issue of the magazine.. there are dozens of suppliers listed..
prior to all the repo trim parts being available... we sent parts out to stainless steel straightening and polishing companies... most were usually buzzy with chevy truck chrome grills... but they liked the large amounts of green...
one thing... use extreme care to remove it.. in a restoration shop worked at in the late 80s one new tech... took the job board as his own .. noticed to remove the stainless trim from a 59 eldorado biarritz convertible.. that was always done by the stainless steel polisher.. he would come himself to remove it.. this guy pealed it off like it was roll trim.. no body saw him until he had been yanking and ripping for 30 minutes.. it usually took the stainless guy a whole day to get it off without wrecking it..

apache85, here is the llustration from my catalog that shows the parts associated with your query:
Here on the western US coast, the following are the premier Mustang wrecking yards: Mustang Village in San Bernardino CA Mustang Country in Paramount CA Mustangs Plus in Stockton CA
good luck on your quest. Maybe someone else in the forum can point you towards an east coast wrecker giving you an additional 3 hours of contact time since we're GMT +7 hours here in Calif.
