Hello all, The rearend fluid access bolt leaks on my 66 Mustang. Can I seal the threads with teflon tape or will it just melt and cause more problems? Does anyone have another suggestion to stop the leak? Thanks, Eric.

a single or double wrap clockwise looking at the end of the threads of teflon tape will probably work
start a thread from the end...
you might also find that if you wire brush the plug fittings.. then clean with brake cleaner.. a tiny application of silicone sealer will work... permatex form a gasket #2 works also.. but no body has any of that any more in their tool boxes...

you could also run a 1/2 inch pipe tape into the diff housing , just enought to clean the threads. Then install a new 1/2 inch plug with some permitex non harding on it, pipe tapes have a slight taper on them so it will give you clean threads after, just coat the tap with grease to catch the few small cuttings.
