A while back I converted my 65 6cyl to automatic transmission and kept the same distributor. I was going through the manual and it indicates a different distributor part number for the automatic transmission. What's the difference? The distributor I have seems to work fine. Thanks

Physically they are the same. The difference is usually in the advance mechanisms (different spring rates, etc.)
So if your car is running fine with the distributor setup as-is, then I wouldn't worry about it.
