C4 bell housing gasket

Does anyone know if there is a gasket between the bell housing and the motor on a 200 ci and a C4? When I removed the engine, I didn't recall seeing one- just the metal spacer that has a ring on it for the starter.

only the aluminum spacer in between as there is nothing to seal

On a I6, There is only a inspection plate attached to the lower half of the bell-housing and the aforementioned starter shim/spacer.
