What is the best weight and brand of oil to run in a 65 (289) auto with a four barrel. I have been running g-oil lately its a full sin but I am wondering what is best for myustang . Thanks for any and all input
You need oil with the zinc additive in it to keep from wearing out the camshaft. Castrol Edge Syntex formulated for older cars is good. Newer engines with roller lifters don't need the zinc additive so most oil no longer has enough in it for older engines.

Other thing is use diesel oil as it still has zinc in it. Zinc was removed from the oils because it was plugging up the cats.
You can also purchase zinc additive to use with your regular or synthetic oil as well. Most auto parts stores will carry it. Otherwise, look for oil that has it in the formula, like diesel oil, Rotella, muscle car oil, etc.HTH...Mark.
