I have a 98 convertible top motor/pump that's not working. The fuse under the hood is good. No noise whatsoever coming from the pump. Before I replace the pump is there something else I should look at? Plenty of fluid in the pump, no leaks. Does anyone know how much voltage I should see at the electrical connection at the pump when the button is activated? Thanks.
before replacing anything.. start with this under the hood...why.. because the pump and relays are grounded to the body to complete their circuit.. if you have a bad ground connection and almost every mustang and ford i have worked on has several ground connections at the front that need help... \this is just the start... i will have more for you.. this is 5 minute to prove the grounds are good or not..
i am not sure this is how the 98s are wired
if you notice.. the switch gets power from one source.. to control the relay windings only.. if one or the other relay is activated by the switch.. the power from the circuit breaker is sent across the relay contacts goes to either the raise or lower windings on the pump.. i will check around later tonight or post if yours is wired differently..
